Australian Religious Response to Climate Change

Bishop Hans Christiansen at the launch of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change’s week of climate action on Tuesday 17 September 2024.

Bishop Hans spoke of the beauty found in this place, the lands of the Noongar people, in the season of Djilba – yet the distress of creation is starkly evident, as trees die, the oceans warm, and species become extinct.

The Bishop called for new gas and coal projects to cease, and urged the government and the opposition to develop a plan to transition to renewable energy, leaving nobody behind. His address concluded with a prayer that humanity might embrace God’s call to be faithful stewards of the creation.
